May 2010
Scott is now 16 months old and he
has successfully passed his latest
assessment.
His trainer Amy is very pleased with how
Scott is adapting to the task work training.
He is particularly enjoying the "pull"
command,
as it gives him the opportunity to show off!
March 2010

SCOTT has started his training!
Scott has recently returned to Banbury to
commence his formal training.
He has spent his first year with his
socialisers
who have said they are going to miss their
"beautiful boy" very much.
Scott has been assigned to one of the
qualified trainers at Dogs for the Disabled.
They will spend the next month simply
getting to know each other.
His trainer will find out
what motivates him, his likes and dislikes
before introducing elements of pulling and
retrieving through play,
gradually incorporating other task work
requirements as time goes by.
Watch this space for progress on his training...........
On the 28th November 2009, 6 members of our team did a skydive to
raise money for
Bedfordshire Wildlife Rescue and Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The brave candidates had spent the previous weekend waiting
to do their jump, only to have to reschedule due to
poor weather conditions.
They finally jumped on Saturday 28th and despite a few last minute nerves,
all jumped and landed safely!
We are still collecting the last of our sponsorship money,
however the estimated total raised lies somewhere in the region of £1800.
Thank you so much
for all your kind donations and support.
November 2009
A normal morning in the surgery turned into something quite
different when we received a call saying that a horse had fallen
into a swimming pool. On arrival, Louise our vet was greeted by
3 fire engines and 20 firemen who were in the process of pumping water out of the pool. Ellie, a 7 year old mare, had broken out of
her stable and ran across the pool cover and had unfortunately
fallen straight through. She had been in the water for a few
hours and was obviously very distressed and going into shock.
In order to safely lift her out of the pool Louise administered
a sedative and the firemen, geared up in wet suits,
attached a hoist around her.
Once she was lifted out and released onto the ground the next
job was to rub her dry with towels as she was hypothermic.
Once the firemen had gone Louise examined Ellie
to assess the damage. Luckily she seemed to have come
through her ordeal with just a few scratches and after a
week of TLC and rest she went on to win a rosette at a local competition.

Open Day
May 2009
Thanks to all who joined us for our Open day
on 10th May.
We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did.
It was great to see so many familiar faces.
For those of you that could not attend,
we have added a couple of photos for you.
Visitors enjoyed meeting a range of exotic animals, seeing demonstrations of physiotherapy
and ultrasound and seeing all our
“behind the scenes” facilities.

Fundraising – Introducing “Scott”
Last year’s charity ball was a huge success and with the generosity of our Customers and friends, we raised over £8,000 for
Dogs for the Disabled and the Local Wildlife Trust.
With our donation, Dogs for the Disabled have purchased an
adorable black Labrador Puppy who has already started his
training with puppy foster parents Derik and Jill. They report that “Scott” (named after us)
is a cheerful happy little fellow who is loved by everyone he meets.
Sometimes it’s hard to comprehend that a young, vulnerable and
adorable puppy will one day provide the gift of independence to
someone, but with the guidance and love their host families provide,
together with the technical support from our Puppy Department,
they will develop the fundamental skills required for their very
important future role.
We wish Scott the very best of luck
and will keep you updated
